Connect the monitors
Use the GPU outputs (not the motherboard outputs, unless using integrated graphics intentionally). Connect both monitors before booting.
Configure in Windows
Right-click Desktop → Display Settings. Both monitors appear as numbered boxes. Arrange them by dragging to match your physical layout (left/right, height alignment).
Display modes
- Extend — separate desktop on each monitor (most common).
- Duplicate — same image on both (for presentations).
- Second screen only — useful for troubleshooting.
Shortcut: Win+P to toggle modes quickly.
Resolution and refresh rate
Set each monitor to its native resolution independently. Mismatched refresh rates are fine — Windows handles them per-display.
Second monitor not detected
In Display Settings scroll down and click "Detect". Also try: DDU → reinstall GPU drivers. Check the cable and port. Test the monitor independently on a laptop to rule out hardware failure.
