Find compatible RAM

  • Use Crucial System Scanner or Kingston Memory Finder — enter your model and get a guaranteed-compatible list.
  • Match DDR generation (DDR4 vs DDR5), speed, and voltage.
  • Check the motherboard QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for exact model compatibility, especially for XMP/EXPO speeds.

Installation — desktop

  1. Power off and unplug.
  2. Open the side panel. Ground yourself by touching the metal chassis.
  3. Press the retention clips on both ends of the DIMM slot outward simultaneously.
  4. Align the RAM notch with the slot key. Press firmly until both clips snap closed — it takes more force than expected.
  5. For 2 sticks: use slots A2 and B2 (typically slots 2 and 4) for dual-channel operation.

Enable XMP/EXPO

After installing faster RAM, enter BIOS → enable XMP (Intel) or EXPO (AMD). Without this, RAM runs at JEDEC default (typically 2133 or 2400 MHz) regardless of its rated speed.
