Check the basics
- Volume mixer — right-click the speaker icon → Open Volume Mixer. Check that the application is not muted.
- Default device — right-click speaker icon → Sounds → Playback tab. Ensure the correct device is set as Default.
- Physical mute button on speakers or headset.
Restart Windows Audio service
Press Win+R → services.msc → find "Windows Audio" → Restart.
Reinstall audio drivers
Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers → right-click Realtek/Intel/Nahimic audio → Uninstall device → check "Delete the driver software" → reboot. Windows installs a generic driver; then install the manufacturer's driver from their site for full functionality.
